Types of Implants

There are various types of implants used in implant treatment. These types of implants are chosen based on several factors, the patient’s condition, and treatment needs. Here are some commonly used types of implants :
Types of Implants

Single-Piece Implants

Single-piece implants are implants where the implant body and abutment are combined. In this type of implant, the abutment is fixed and does not require a separate abutment placement. Single-piece implants may have a simpler placement process and can be a suitable option in some cases.

Two-Piece Implants

Two-piece implants are implants where the implant body and abutment are separate. After the implant body is placed in the jawbone, the healing process begins. Once healing is complete, the abutment is attached to the implant body, and the restoration is performed. These types of implants provide more flexibility, allowing for aesthetic and functional results.

Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic implants are special implants used in patients with insufficient jawbone volume. These implants are placed in the zygomatic bones (cheekbones) instead of the jawbone. Zygomatic implants can allow for implant treatment in cases where the jawbone is insufficient.

All-on-4 Implants

All-on-4 implants are an implant method used in cases of complete tooth loss. In this method, four implants are placed in the upper or lower jawbone. A fixed bridge prosthesis is attached to these implants, thus addressing all tooth loss with a single restoration. All-on-4 implants can be preferred as an option for the quick and effective treatment of tooth loss.

Mini Implants

Mini implants are smaller diameter implants. These implants are used in cases where jawbone volume is limited or for smaller restorations. Mini implants can be used to improve the retention of complete dentures or to address single tooth deficiencies.

The type of implant used in implant treatment is determined based on the patient’s condition, jawbone structure, the area where the implant will be placed, and treatment goals. Therefore, it is important to receive a detailed evaluation and treatment plan from a dentist.
